Community Kitchen
Here at Treflach Farm we are currently applying for grants to change one of our out of use buildings into a modern, inviting space, comprising a user friendly butchery and hot preparation kitchen.
In times past, for small scale dairy and arable farms like Treflach Farm, selling to the local dairy or market was a viable option, but today, many have found that this simply doesn't pay the bills and are struggling with the modern marketplace. We believe it is fitting, then, that it is part of Treflach Farm’s old dairy that we are choosing to renovate, convert and utilise for the benefit of the community.
In this space Treflach Farm and other local producers will be able to add value to our produce allowing us all to continue to farm in a traditional, sustainable, small-scale fashion and still pay the bills.
By involving as many people from the local producing and farming community as possible we hope to engender genuine enthusiasm for our local, value added products and enable those who may not be able to build the facilities for themselves to get involved and benefit.
We are developing a package that includes an educational space, involving the kitchen and also a teaching area to be able to inform as many as possible about the countryside around them, animal husbandry and welfare, and food production - from farmyard to fork.
