Educational space and educational packages
At Treflach farm, and throughout the farming community, we are increasingly worried about the state of food production and the current nature of food consumption in the UK. Developing an educational space, and various educational packages, are our way of addressing these concerns.
Primary among these concerns is the erosion of the link between the production and the consumption of food. Treflach Farm, being a working farm complete with community kitchen facilities onsite, is the perfect place to restore this link from farm to fork and to restore it in the minds of those who matter most – children and young adults.
We are currently applying for grants to convert Treflach’s now disused milking parlour into an educational space, designed to ensure that the room retains many of the interesting features from its past, allowing simply entering the room to be an educational experience in itself. We are also working closely with educational consultants to design packages from ages 5 to 16, combining farm tours, classroom time, and time using our kitchen facilities, that are closely tied to relevant National Curriculum key-stage targets.
If you would be interested in finding out more about our educational packages please do get in touch.
